RACHEL MCDEAVITT - OWNER & HOME BAKER

Hi, I'm Rachel! I'm so glad you found The Blue Hydrangea Bakery. If you're anything like me,

you're curious about people's stories, so I'd love to share a little of mine with you!

I've always enjoyed baking as a creative outlet: to make something aesthetically pleasing that is delicious AND meaningful to someone... What could be better? I sometimes pondered the possibility of combining my love of coffee and baking by opening a coffeeshop where I could feature my baked goods. This, however, was just a reoccurring daydream, as my "real job" was teaching English to high school students. I greatly valued working with them, and I especially enjoyed when our reading assignments provided the opportunity for students to bake a dish from the novel's culture and time period.  Additionally, I led a baking club at school, which allowed me to combine my passion for baking and joy of teaching.

I pivoted to home-baking in 2020 after marrying the love of my life,  Matt, who encouraged and helped me to make my dream of baking a reality. I am not a professionally trained pastry chef; however, I believe that you will be genuinely pleased with what I will create for you, as I strive for excellence in taste, quality, and customization with every order. I am the owner and sole employee of my business, so you won't have to worry about details getting lost in translation because, from start to finish, I will be dedicated to the attentive completion of your order. Personal communication ensures that the details that matter to you matter to me.
